What to Wear in Las Vegas
Written by: Renée Olson
If you’re ready to bet big and plan a trip to Las Vegas, you’ll need to be prepared for more than just the gambling odds. Sin City is so much more than slot machines and blackjack tables.
You’ll need a suitcase filled with a capsule wardrobe that mixes and matches for anything that comes your way. Keep reading to find out what to wear in Las Vegas!
Note: for winter trips, please check the weather as you’ll need some cold weather clothing for daytime and sightseeing.

A Great Pair of Heels
When you’re planning what to wear in Las Vegas, bring shoes and clothing based on your itinerary. Vegas is the nightlife capital, so you’ll want to be outfitted with a great pair of shoes that can take you to dinner and dancing if that’s what’s on your to-do list. Pick neutral, versatile shoes so you’ll be able to match them with all of your evening wear.
What are neutral colors? Find out!
For those having a more low-key Vegas experience (or for non-nightlife hours), choose comfortable shoes. You can take a taxi everywhere but part of the fun is walking on the strip!
Tip: Packing cubes make the perfect shoe bags to protect your luggage from dirty shoes.

Gorgeous Evening Wear
If you’ve got a rocking pair of heels, you’ve gotta have the outfit to justify them! This is the perfect opportunity to go glam – think bold colors, prints, and even metallics.
You can also mix it up with dresses, skirts, or halter jumpsuits. Fun, sassy pieces will work at clubs, on the dance floor, seeing shows, or hitting the casino. Add these to your list of what to wear in Las Vegas.
The Perfect Poolside Ensemble
If you’re in Vegas, you’re staying up late and hitting the pool early. The hotel pools are like another world. Fashion can be prioritized over function, as everyone is lounging by the pool and sipping frozen drinks.
Pair your suit with a luxurious floor length cover up and pretty sandals and celeb inspired sunglasses.
A Cute Clutch
When you’re planning what to wear in Las Vegas, leave your oversized purse at home. Bring along a clutch that goes with all of your glam evening wear, and is large enough to fit your ID, credit card, cash, cell phone, room key and your lipstick for touch ups. You won’t want to be weighed down or trying to keep track of where you set your purse all night.
Casual Day Wear
If you aren’t by the pool all day, it’s likely you’ll be grabbing lunch or doing some shopping. Casual clothes that can be mixed and matched are your best bet. When choosing what to wear in Las Vegas, pack cut off shorts, flowy tops, and cute sundresses that will pair well with the dry Vegas heat.
A Light Jacket
The desert means dry heat and can sometimes mean cool nights. In the winter time, the temperature can get very cold so plan accordingly for what to wear in Las Vegas if you plan to spend much time outdoors.
A lightweight jacket, cardigan, or even a scarf can save you from a windy evening or rooftop bar as you wine and dine throughout the year. Even if it’s not cold outside, the casinos and hotel bars tend to be chilly, so you won’t regret a light layer.
Amazing Accessories
Vegas has tons of bright lights, sparkle, and neon around every corner. Don’t forget to add your own bling to your outfits with statement necklaces, bold earrings, and cocktail rings. It’s your time to shine, so it’s a great time to try some new costume jewelry or baubles. You can even use fun jewelry to dress up a more casual outfit and take it from day to night.
Whether poolside, casinos, shows or shopping – this is Vegas, baby. Have fun with your wardrobe and enjoy the glitz and glamour!

Good shoes, sun cream and a light jumper are must haves! I wore full length trousers in the evenings as the ac really can leave you chilly when sitting in a bar/restaurant for a long time.
great tips Karen!
Always, no matter what time of year, bring a wrap or sweater for inside. Doesnt matter if its 70 or 110 outside restaurants & casinos run their ac’s on full blast all year round. Also pack heavy moisturizer. I used oil as my moisturizer when I lived there and my skin was ALWAYS dry. And for the love of all that is good, do a boob & butt check before you pack something-meaning if either or both can accidently pop out leave it behind.
AWESOME tips Cherie! Thank you!
