I swear by the Taos Gift 2 sandals! I have terrible feet. These sandals are super comfortable with plenty of support. They come in lots of colors including metallics (I have pewter) which dress them up a bit.
Thank you for sharing your review of your Taos sandals with us Mo!
Doesn’t seem like much, but these reviews were awesome! ThNks so much!
Thank you for all of the great sandal recommendations. I will be wearing my soffit sandals on tour in Turkey
Another great brand for walking sandals is Abeo. In June we traveled to 8 countries in Europe for 32 days. I wore the Sylvie sandal a lot of days and walked many miles in them. I like a sandal that can be adjusted as some styles will stretch out over time and become loose, which can cause blisters. I never had an issue with these sandals and could wear them with casual attire or dress them up for dinner (the straps are a little “sparkle”) . Sadly this style is sadly no longer available but similar ones can be found that have multiple adjustable straps. I loved wearing sandals with a comfortable dress in the warm climates, it definitely helped me be cooler than closed toe shoes.
Just found some Ecco flowt sandals on Poshmark and am thrilled!
I’m always looking for new walking sandals – now I have more to check out!
Thank you for putting this list together! Seems like walking sandals for a vacation are hard to find. Can’t wait to try a few of these to see what works best.
I have the Ecco Flowt sandals which I love! They’re very comfortable and great for walking. I plan on taking them to Europe when we take our riverboat cruise. Thanks TFG for all your great recommendations!!!
This blog is always my fist stop to find anything travel related. When I needed comfortable sandals for an upcoming trip I automatically went to your recommendations. Sure enough I decided on Vionic Kirra which were unlike anything I wore before. Comfortable but stylish! I get compliments on them all the time.
I bought the Naot sandals last Spring and I love them. They are stylish and comfortable. Win Win!!
I am unable to wear flats so I am looking for comfortable sandals with low heel!
These are some great suggestions for comfortable walking sandals! I have high arches and wide feet, so finding sandals that I can walk long distances in, can be
On my last trip, I really appreciated my Merrel Terran walking sandals. I was able to walk long distances on varied terrain, with out sore feet:)
I have been wearing Chacos non-stop for 20 years. I would still be wearing my original pair had my former dog not chewed the strap. They really mean it with their lifetime warranty. and, I wash them with my clothes! Absolute best sandals ever!
Love all the recommendations! Purchased the Ecco Flowt sandal. What a comfortable sandal with all the support needed for “old” feet!
Thanks for these tips. I have wide feet and am hard to fit. Many of these comfort styles come in wide.
Thank you for all your tips! I purchased the Ecco Flowt in silver and look forward to wearing them to Egypt.
So helpful- thank you! Have you heard anything about Kuru or Vessi brand sandals/shoes for traveling?
Your selections were perfect. I ended up with naot sandal, birkenstock sandal and teva saldal for our 17 day trip around Portugal and Madeira. My feet were comfortable and happy. Thank you
Love these Naot Sabrina sandals! Worked perfectly for a three week trip to France!
I love the Sabrina as well. One piece of advice I would give is if you are in between size size down as they do stretch out a bit.
I purchased the Sofft mirabelle sandal for an upcoming trip to Greece. They are so comfortable and go with my capsule wardrobe. Thanks for the recommendation.
Add another vote for the Vionic Kirra. I bought these in rose gold and they were the mainstay of my 2-week trip to Italy and Switzerland this summer. I didn’t wear them for my early morning park walks–or hiking the Flaughorn Trail–but pretty much everything else, all over Rome, Florence, Tuscany, Venice, Interlaken and Zurich. I wore them with pants, shorts, and dresses. They were the only think I could think of putting on my feet after my 15 miles in one day, and they were like a dream. Sadly, I forgot them at my last hotel–so I promptly ordered another pair after I realized that. My only word of caution–which is true for all sandals–is that you might not want to wear them for days of hauling heavy luggage on and off trains. My suitcase kept landing on my toe. I totally would have worn them on the plane back home though – except they pack so well, I chose to wear my more bulky sneakers.
Hi Margret, thank you for sharing your review of your Vionic Kirra sandals with us and your awesome travel tips, this is really helpful!! Hope you had an amazing time on your trip this summer! ❤️
Finn Comfort Gomera sandals. I love these sandals for difficult feet- wider at top and narrow heel. Fully adjustable, come in great colors. Lots of arch support. Love! Also for flip flops Oofos!
I am glad that you are starting to show some more practical shoes for travel. We walk miles and miles each day on a trip and some of the things like ballet flats and sandals definitely do not work for me. And I have a neuroma on my foot that prevents wearing much of a heel (not a flat, but almost) or any sort of pointed toe. I always go comfort shoes: Naot, Mephisto, Beautifeel (more for dress) etc. My biggest problem is finding ones that are great for walking all day, but also look nice with a dress or skirt. I don’t like sneakers. I did a pair of Naot Mary Jane’s and walked all over Paris and they were great! If you could find more that are cute but also hold up to 10+ mile a day, that would be great!
Have you tried the Walking Company? I just found Abeo sandals that supports exactly those kinds of problems. Ended up getting two pairs!
They are super comfy with great support, especially in the “ arch” and toes…which are sadly missing in so many shoes! And very lightweight as
well. They carry all the above brands as well! I bought the “ Goleta” style, but there are many styles, including tennies, and ankle boots.
It can be difficult to find a comfortable shoe, and given how expensive they can be, you don’t want to be “trying them out” only to find they aren’t comfortable. Thanks for sharing all these – it will help make finding the perfect shoe easier.
I searched high and low for a pair of walking sandals for a 2 week trip to central
Europe. My criteria: 1 1/2 -2 inch heel, adjustable straps for instep and ankle, lightweight, easy to walk on cobblestones, must look good with skirts or pants.
I finally found them!
Naot Women’s Reserve Dress Sandal, Expensive, but worth it! Comfortable, packable, and cute with skirts!
Naot is a great brand! Good choice ?
Great information. It is always such a challenge to find stylish comfortable sandals. I’m always looking for styles with a wider strap to cover my bunions and I sometimes need a wide width. I still wear a pair of Ecco sandals I’ve had for a few years — very comfortable.
I’m surprised at how many of these brands I’m not familiar with! I just ordered a pair of the sabrina’s so I guess I’ll see how well they fit my feet. 🙂
Ooooh hope you like them!!
I’m going to Aspen, CO in less that 2 weeks and the temperature varies from low 50’s to the mid 80’s. How the heck do I pack for that, especially with shoes? The layering of clothes I have down pat and I have a fold-up/compressible down jacket so I’m all good there.
I’m bringing hiking boots and sandals, maybe dress shoes but feel like I need a nicer closed toe shoe too. Maybe a mary jane type? Anyone have a suggestion or two?
Thanks in advance! 🙂
I was wondering if you’ve tried any TEVA’s. I just see that they have lots of options.
They’re very popular and have good styles. We’ve featured them in this round up: https://travelfashiongirl.com/the-best-sandals-for-travel-this-summer/
Footwear for walking long distances is so tricky for me. I need to give some of these a try. Love the Naots you have on in the pic! Thanks for this post 🙂
They’re amazing Sarah, you do have to try them!
Travel Fashion Girl, where have you been all my traveling life? I was looking for shoes for my trip to Catalina a few months ago. All I could find was Teva’s in 50 strappy variations. Not this fashion girl. Then I came across your blog– and what a surprise to find so many styles from so many brands. Brands I’ve never heard of, but now a fan of! I bought not one, but three pairs of shoes from this article: a pair of Sofft and 2 pairs of Ecco shoes. I wore them right out of the box, love them all! To me the key to enjoyable travel are happy feet. Happy feet that can walk, run or stand for hours, days or nights, and look cute while do so. Thank you!!
Now on to your story about travel cubes for my next journey…
can’t wait to hear about it 😉
Wow Shelley, that’s an incredible story! Thank you for taking the time to share it! I’m very happy you found various shoes for your travels 🙂
Ditto that! Wish I’d known about this sight before going to Italy. I bought cheapy shoes that I most definitely regretted purchasing and they were not even that cute. I wish I’d just bought one pair that cost more and I would have been more comfortable AND fashionable.
I’m definitely bookmarking this site for future travel
It’s very common to travel with cute shoes to Italy and end up with so much discomfort you buy shoes you don’t like just to feel comfort. Glad you’ve found the blog now MaryAnn 🙂
Just got my Sketchers Brilliance in. They are super comfy. I ordered 3 colors but will stick with the Navy and Black for now. Also ordered the Mirabelle but all they had was the gray and I am not sure it love the color.
Hey! I linked to this post on my blog post about Kentucky Derby packing!
Thanks for including us 🙂 We shared your post on Facebook!
I would do anything to find a good looking walking sandal!
There are some good options here 😉
I clicked on link after link only to be disappointed…… I wish more shoes/sandals/boots were offered in wide sizes. I guess I’ll stay with my trusty thong shoes!
These are very comfortable and are my “go to” for walking in warm weather. I have several pair in many colors. I can walk miles in them. One hint: if you haven’t worn a thong sandal in a while, wear a pair around the house for a week or two before you plan on traveling. That way your feet are used to them.
Hi Victoria, try this: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/cute-shoes-for-wide-feet/
Hi! Any idea what the brand is in the main picture? Loving those.
Oh wait, I think they are the Naots??
They are Naots. The style is called “Sabrina”. You can find them at http://www.amazon.com
I can’t find your main pic with the t-strap black sandal … I pulled up the Sabrina and it just showed the brown and black pair on the list .. want to purchase your main pic
Hi Morgan, I think you might be referring to the Teva Terra-Float Livia Lux Sandals which are also featured in the article. Hope this helps. Happy travels!
Hello- everyone I am heading to Italy in September 2016, were my husband and I will tend to walk a lot, I am looking for a good support sandal that is stylish. My feet tend to hurt a lot of walking and standing on m feet all day. I also have flat feet. I wore Toms the last time we were in Italy and I went to the doctor when we returned and found out I have plantar fasciitis. This list looks great, but just wanted to see if anyone had any other recommendations. Thank you
Hi Sarah 🙂 To get some more feedback from our readers I’ll post your question on our Facebook page as well. Have you had a look at these posts? You may also find them helpful – http://bit.ly/2avi3um + http://bit.ly/29IQbAD
If you suffer from plantar fasciitis try Fitflop brand sandals – look for the styles with the ” microwobble board” footbed. They have helped me tremendously!! My left foot had overextended and I had severe pain throughout my arch area – these sandals saved my feet 6yrs ago and wearing em ever since. No break in period, good arch support and lots of cushion and support throughout the entire footbed. I started with the leather walkstar and now have several lulu styles. I do find you size down in these styles, i normally am a ladies 6 but in microbbleboards I take a 5. You can find them on amazon and ebay but be careful they are not imitations. I used to order from there but now order directly from Fitflop.ca. Watch for sales and you can strike good deals. Well worth the money. I work on a concrete floor for 12 hr shifts and my feet are never sore anymore. Love them!:)
Thanks for the suggestion Carolyn! We’ve heard great things about the brand and featured them in the best beach sandals post ?
Looking forward to trying the Naots. So cute. Thanks for adding that they are the ones in the feature pic too!
You’re welcome 🙂 I hope they work out for you!
Do the Naots have good arch support, and are they lightweight and flexible. I loved the look of yours the first time I saw them! However, the other things mentioned are very important to me!
Hi Connie, thank you for your question! Not only do our readers love Naot sandals, this is one of my favorite walking sandal brands. The Naot sandals have excellent arch support with a sturdy sole. During my last trip to Europe, I wore my Naot sandals nonstop. The Naot sandals are also mentioned in this post: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/the-best-sandals-for-travel-this-summer/ Hope this helps! 🙂
These are some very cute walking sandals and those are hard to find! I’m going to have to check out the Flexx brand – have never tried them.
I’m loving the Flexx styles – I can’t wait to try them out, too!
Great post, i really struggle with finding comfortable sandals for walking around in, I tend to just wear trainers on holiday but my feet get so hot!
Hi Sara, my feet swell and get so uncomfortable in trainers when it’s hot so comfortable yet stylish sandals is a must!
Great post! I love the Rianna wedge sandals by Sofft. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/rianna-wedge-sandal/4231057?origin=category-personalizedsort&fashioncolor=ANTHRACITE
Looks like a great style, thanks for the tip!
Birkenstock rocks! I have suffered from back pain a lot, but walking around in SEA’s cities or Berlin summer heat was always fun!
Me too! They completely minimize my back pain – love them!
I LOVE the Naot Sabrina sandals! They have been great and I am thinking about getting another pair rather than trying one of the other suggested options. They just fit my feet well and I like the look! Thanks
When you say “walking”, how much walking are we talking? I am heading over to Asia (Thailand, Laos, Vietnam) in Sept/Oct and will be taking my Ziera sneakers but would like to take a nice sandal that will be suitable for a day of strolling around temples (to give my feet a rest from the Ziera’s) and also double up for wearing to a nice restaurant at night. Some sandals I have been looking at are:
Teva Terra Float Nova Lux or Cabrillo Crossover, Ecco Damara or Cruise, Naot Sabrina and from this article the Arche Satia, The Flexx Band Together Gladiator and the Ahnu Salena. I think they are all cute to wear at night so which do you think would be the most suitable from a walking perspective?
Hi Ange, all of these are “comfortable” sandals so they’re all meant for walking 🙂 SEA is the perfect place for one of these!
Bought these Rockports for my trip to Cancun. They are stylish and have trmendouse cushioning and arch support. I could walk in these all day.
