Smartphones have quickly replaced the need for several gadgets and most people seem to have their phone permanently attached to their hand.
I use my unlocked iPhone for everything: as a camera, an MP3 player to replace my iPod, an e-reader using Amazon’s free Kindle app, and occasionally as an international phone, too.

Having easy access to a charger is more important than ever and there are tons of portable chargers out there to make your life easier. I am currently using the Pebble, which has two USB ports and is palm-sized.
Using it was a must for a weekend camping at BlogStock or six days at Glastonbury. Aside from camping, it’s also perfect for long travel days when I’m on planes, trains, or buses and my phone is my main form of entertainment (including taking photos to amuse myself). A 14-hour flight? No problem.
Even though my iPhone can be energy draining, I still get two full charges out of my Pebble. Besides a portable charger, don’t forget to pack a good universal travel adapter that can accommodate several countries. Both are essential to keep charged and connected!

Popular Mobile Power Banks
When it comes to having the best portable charger for travel, our readers have voiced Anker as their favorite brand. Not only are Anker chargers reliable products, but they also have great customer service and wide availability on Amazon.
One reader shared her experience, saying, “I really like this one! It holds a few charges, at least two but I forgot to count how many times it can recharge my phone. I have a bigger Anker one that I use to charge my phone multiple times during a week. I took this one and my bigger one on my recent five-day trip since it was new and I hadn’t really tested it out, but I could’ve just taken the smaller one. It’s bigger than the little lipstick one, but it holds more charges so it works out.”
On-the-Go Travel Mobile Power
This Jackey charger is lightning fast and very compact, making it ideal for travel.
One reader gives a detailed description of the different Jackey products available, commenting, “I’m a Jackery fan! The mini will get you one charge, the Bar should get you two and the Bolt will also get you two, but has built-in lightning bolt cable (iPhone), micro USB, as well as a USB output. I’ve had all three and like the Bolt the best because I can charge one device with the built-in connector and a second with the USB cable.”
Rose Gold Travel Power Bank
Aesthetically pleasing and compact, the Mophie Powerstation Plus has a built-in switch-tip charging cable for both Apple and USB devices.
Good for at least a couple of charges, its double USB ports even allows you to charge two devices at once. One reader casts her vote for this charger stating, “I have and love this one.”
Jackery Mini Portable Charger
This Jackery Mini Portable Charger may be small, but it still packs a punch. Fast charging and easy to travel with, this charger also has a handy LED indicator to let you know just how much charge it has left.
One reader who uses this charger is a fan of its compact size, saying, “I like this one, it’s not much bigger than a lipstick.” With packability like that, you can take it anywhere and stay fully charged!

Fkant Waterproof Solar Charger
Solar and Waterproof Travel Chargers
This is one of the best portable power bank chargers for travel due to its ability to absorb sunlight and charge via solar power as opposed to electricity. You can take it with you as you adventure around the globe without worrying about finding an outlet!
Our readers weigh in, with one traveler saying, “It has some weight to it, but two phones can charge at the same time, it holds a charge forever, and has a solar as backup (slow to charge that way, but it’s still cool).”
If that wasn’t enough, it’s also waterproof and easy to carry. One reader states, “You can put these on a loop dangling from your purse, they will absorb sunlight, and you can charge your phone without using electricity. They work! The ones I have are slightly larger than a phone.”

High Speed Travel Charger
Good for two charges and beautifully designed, this charger is perfect for travel and super lightweight. The multi-head adapter should cover all the charging needs you’ll have while on the go.
A little more expensive than some other power banks, one reader still recommends this charger, saying, “Pricey but works so well and I don’t have to carry anything extra.”
Fashionable and Functional Power Bank
Want an accessory AND a charger? The Mighty Purse Wristlet might be the perfect fit for you. Available in a wide range of colors, this purse is made of 100% genuine leather and is the perfect size for almost any phone.

Question: I will be traveling to Europe and need to bring my electronic blood pressure machine. It is small and doesn’t weigh much. I will carry the batteries separately.
A note from your doctor stating that the blood pressure machine is medically necessary should allow you to pack it separately and should not count as an additional carry on. Check with your airlines.
I love travelling and found few great power banks in the process and some big brands like Anker are the best for travelers !
Hi! I love your site! I’m just wondering if power banks need to be dual voltage or they’ll fry like hair dryers when you try and charge them in a different country? Are these compatible with international travel with different voltage? I have no idea how electricity works, I just remember frying my flat iron in the Philippines, and have been concerned about my electronics since 🙂
GREAT questions Tori! I’ll post this on Facebook to see if we have any experts to give you an accurate answer. Thanks!
Great post, you have some really good power banks in here. I used a similar powerbanks to the EasyAcc 10000mAh Brilliant Ultra Slim Dual USB, I think it was an older model though as I got it super cheap in Honkers.
The best powerbank that my boyfriend and I found while traveling Hong Kong, China then the rest of asia was the EC Technology 22,400mAh. It wasn’t too big but had a ton of power storage so we could go days charging our phones without having to find powerpoints.
If you are interested we also put together a list of power banks that we found really good.
Great post the small ones are so cute 😉
Glad you like them, thanks for sharing!
I travel all the time for work, and have gone through countless portable chargers. The Powergen is the only one that I could recommend. I’ve been using it for two years, and it’s so great that my husband gave them out as groomsmen gifts.
Thanks for the recommendation, will check it out!
