Travel Purse Essentials for Summer Vacation

Shiseido Pureness Oil Control Blotting Paper

Blotting papers

Blotting papers are pocket-sized friends that absorb excess oil and help reduce shine. These Shisedo papers are my favorite because they have a hint of powder—helping give a touch-up without making it look like you have caked-on make-up.

Here’s what our reader’s recommend as the best sweatproof makeup for travel!

DERMAdoctor MED e TATE antiperspirant wipes

Deodorant wipes

Having these in my purse has saved me numerous times—for example, walking around Paris on an unexpectedly warm day left me in need of a refresh prior to our fancy late lunch. Travel wipes to the rescue! I really loved Sephora’s deodorant wipes to go, but I can’t find them any more so am assuming they were discontinued. (Sad!!)

Here are some I’d like to try, but haven’t yet. You can also pop a travel deodorant into your purse, but I love how flat and compact wipes are.

Take a look a six other non-liquid travel wipes!

Sun Bum Premium Sunscreen Face Stick

Sunscreen

Having travel sunscreen is definitely a summer purse essential. That way, whether it’s sunnier than expected, you forgot to apply, or you need to re-apply; you are armed and ready. I like sticks because of their portability and ease-of –use, though sunscreen wipes work well too.

SPF Rx Shea-Butter Lip Balm SPF 30

Lip balm with SPF

I’m addicted to lip glosses and balms, so I always carry (at least ) one as my purse essentials, but during the summer it’s good to carry one with some sun protection. This 30 SPF is from SPF Rx! It is a great pick because of it’s shine and lack of stickiness.

Benefit They’re Real! Mascara

Travel-sized mascara

It’s amazing the difference a new coat of mascara can make, regardless of what’s happened to the rest of the make-up you applied earlier. In order to prevent carrying my whole make-up bag with me, I use mascara, usually along with a NARS multiple stick, to help save a look that’s melted off. I adore Benefit’s They’re Real! mini mascara because it gives incredibly long lashes and also stays put. It’s not waterproof though, so beware if using before swimming.

Longchamp Le Pilage Pouchette

Pouch

Lastly, I carry a pouch with me in which to store all of this stuff. It helps keep things organized, easy to find, and easy to transfer if I’m switching bags. My current favorite is the Longchamp Le Pilage cosmetic case because it lightweight, durable, and the perfect size—big enough to fit the essentials, but small enough to prevent overstuffing.

Here are a few more cosmetic bag ideas!

Enjoy the remainder of the summer weather! Let me know what I missed—what do you stash in your purse or travel bag to help stay polished in the heat?
