Q: How would you describe your travel style?

Minimal, practical, colorful, spontaneous

Q: Do you prefer to travel carry-on or with a regular size suitcase or bag?

I have always traveled carry-on only and recently bought the Osprey Farpoint 40.

Check out TFG’s 5 reasons why Farpoint Osprey packs are the best travel backpacks.

Q: Are you an overpacker or do you underpack?

A little too much maybe. I travel with about 10 kg and probably wouldn’t have an issue reducing down to 8 kg if I had to.

Q: How do you stay stylish while traveling without access to an entire closet?

I only pack what I enjoy wearing on any given day. I don’t have a wardrobe in the classical sense. I have been living nomadic for a while now and my bag is my wardrobe. I have many colorful clothes that I mix and match more often then not in funny ways. I always combine it with a scarf, earrings, xero shoes and sunglasses.

Learn some tips on how to master the ten piece travel wardrobe!

Q: What are your three must have travel essentials?

My menstrual cup, my journal, ear plugs. The menstrual cup stops me from worrying if or when or how to get female hygiene products. It also saves money, is good for my health and the environment.

My journal keeps me sane and my thoughts structured. It helps me to remember experiences and feelings as I write them down instantly. Ear plugs guarantee good sleep and silence whenever needed. This keeps me happy and healthy.

Q: What destination was the most fun to dress for?

I enjoyed China and Japan the most. I love the colorful, stylish and sometimes entertaining dresses and shoes women wear.

Q: What destination surprised you the most with the ways locals dressed or their type of clothing?

Definitely China. They just had such a unique and fun way of dressing. It made me happy and I got a dress and colorful shoes for myself.

Q: What’s your preferred travel outfit on a plane?

Compression tubes, leggings and a soft jogger, a t-shirt, shirt, hat, scarf and a fleece. Long flights are usually unbearably cold for me so I am prepared.

Check out some of our favorite airplane outfits.

Q: What are your favorite travel accessories?

I would never leave without my sunglasses, earrings and my skirt. I got the earrings from a good friend and the skirt from another dear friend. This makes me feel as if a part of them is always with me.

Q: Do you have any specific hair or makeup products that work great for travel?

W3LL PEOPLE – Universalist Multi-Use Color Stick. I can use it for my eyes, my cheeks and my lips and lip balm.

Q: What are your favorite travel beauty essentials?

Earrings. I have different pairs of earring for different moods (casual, classic, funny)

Q: How many pairs of shoes do you travel with and what styles?

Three: Vibram Five Fingers for running, Merrell Vapor Gloves for longer walks, Xero Shoes for every day use.

Q: Do you have any recommendation for cute or comfortable footwear?

Xero Shoes: They are lightweight, you can get really creative with how you want to tie them and they are comfy.

Q: What was your biggest travel fashion or packing mistake?

Not to bring my nicest clothes. I only packed things I didn’t like because I was too afraid of losing or messing them up – so I left them at home. Dumbest thing ever. Now I only have clothes I love and feel good all day every day and anywhere. Smartest thing ever!

Q: Finally, any travel packing tips for new travelers?

Pack what you wear during a regular week. Then imagine one day of that week to be your anniversary. Pack what you would wear on this occasion too.

Beauty wise I suggest you do the same. If it still turns out to be too much, pre-pack your bag and start living out of it, as if your were already gone somewhere far away and see how that works for you.

But honestly if you realize there is something missing when you are already traveling: don’t worry, you can probably buy it, no matter where you are.
